Watching a good movie in a theatre is always a great way to relax, spend time with family, or enjoy a special night out. National Engineering Month celebrates innovation, and IMAX’s new laser projection technology is a perfect example. For an even more immersive experience, seeing a film in an IMAX theatre can be truly worthwhile. Since 1968, IMAX has been a leader in cinematic innovation, famous for its 15‑perf 65mm film — ten times larger than standard 35mm. Their cameras have captured footage from the ocean’s depths to the high‑speed world of NASCAR.

Celebrating Engineering Innovation

In celebration of National Engineering Month (NEM), IMAX hosted an event at their head office in Mississauga, Ontario, showcasing their newest laser projection and immersive sound technology. Cemcorp employees attended and experienced this cutting‑edge engineering firsthand.

The laser projection system delivers richer colour saturation, deeper contrast, and more vibrant visuals than ever before seen in theatres. Meanwhile, the enhanced sound system creates a surround‑sound experience with heightened clarity and spatial precision. Through film montages, audio tracks, and a HUBBLE 3D presentation, attendees gained a deeper appreciation for this remarkable advancement.

Engineering Excellence in Action

NEM is an ideal time to showcase the incredible work being done by engineers locally and around the world. This new IMAX technology is a great example of engineering and the technological innovations that result. As a profession, engineering has evolved and continues to grow leaving a trail of great advances. It inspires young and old engineers alike. At Cemcorp we strive to provide our clients with the best of our engineering abilities and expertise. We are very proud to be a part of such a great profession.
